Basic information about my car:
2020 Perodua Axia Style
Reasons why I bought this car(purpose)
I used to drive a local car of different brand but sold it before it gave me more headache and bought myself a bike. I use my bike for daily commute, a champion in traffic jams but often under the bridge of a flyover during rainy days. It comes to me that I need to have a car, again, when I come to the office soaking wet head to toe including my inner clothes and end up wearing a pagoda t-shirt and kain sarong for the whole day in the office.
Car selection process
● I had a budget of: RM 50,000
● Models that I have considered include: Myvi
Reasons why I chose this car
I'm not a fan of second hand or recond car. Their history of services, problems and accidents are unknown and it scares me. So my only hunt down list are brand new cars only and Myvi latest generation really catches my eye. Then came this cute little Axia Style. Before this i always saw this car as a driving -school -car and not worth having it but this version really make me reconsider and be with it because it's the smallest, agile and nimble. Easy to cilok -cilok on road around town. Furthermore, it consumes less fuel than my bike.
User Experience
The standard handling is horrible. Front tires feel like floating during corners, highways and there's a significant lag or gap on my steering wheel. During low speed, i need to re-correct my steering wheel as it wont return it by itself. Because it was so light, I could feel my car being pushed by a mild crosswind on the highway. The engine power is acceptable, but it climbs slowly past 120kmh and there's a lag on throttle response which made me uncomfortable during overtaking a longer vehicle such as a container truck on the road.
So I installed a few modifications. I installed a front strut bar to give better stability, a rear lower anti roll bar to reduce body roll during cornering, and a front lower arm braces which enhance my handling, ensuring front camber and tire angle are fixed in place all the time. The steering auto return is now in place, i don't need to re correct my steering on each turn and all of this changes my car from sampan ride and handling to handling like a pro. I'm beyond satisfaction right now that my car is super fun to drive.
I installed an aftermarket intake system and it increased my engine characteristics, making it very easy to reach the top speed (not for racing though, just want to get the powwah when I need it), and I installed the throttle controller to eliminate lags feel on my throttle paddle.
The standard radio provides decent sound quality. But as an audiophile, I installed an android player, changing all door speakers with another nicer brand that can produce nicer sound, and finally an under seat subwoofer to give an extra kick on every beat.

Summary:
It's a good car to have. Highly recommend it as a second or daily car. Decent build quality. Good fuel economy. Good engine. As a low budget car there's surely flaws everywhere and it depends on the owners to make some adjustments for improvement to make the ride better or just live with it as it is. I'm very impressed with my car the first day I bought it, and I still have the same feeling right now. It's a nice, fun, and a good car indeed.
Interesting events:
I still use the factory fitted rim because I discovered that the standard wheels are made by Enkei.
