Reasons to Buy

• Exterior & Interior

The Proton X50 just made my jaw drop the first time I saw it. Obviously, I’ve seen the Geely Binyue on which the Proton X50 is based on, but when I saw the Proton X50 in Citric Orange, I instantly fell in love. The blacked-out roof, sharp LED headlights, quad exhausts, and the wheels are just an absolute beauty! When I looked inside, it was surreal to think that a Proton looks like that! The looks of the Proton X50 are not even comparable to its competitors that I felt like it was a no-brainer for me to look at other crossovers.

• Showroom

I had gotten a Proton X70 in 2019 from Proton Edar Larkin in Johor. They are simply the best! Every time my car has to be serviced, it will be picked up from my house. A door-to-door car service, by Proton! Even with my BMW, I have to send it to the service centre myself. So, when it was time for me to get the X50, I was 100% sure to deal with them.

• Why a new car

I just wanted to support my national carmaker. I have been brought up with Protons since forever, from the Waja, to the Perdana V6, Saga FLX, Prevé, Suprima S, the new Perdana, the X70 and now the X50. It is always a proud moment for me whenever I see a new Proton model come out better than before.

Test Drive Feeling

I did not test drive the Proton X50 before purchasing it, but I somewhat knew how it will behave as I have the Proton X70 as well. When I got the car and drove it the first time, it was surprisingly very refined. I liked the way the car went over bumps and imperfections on the road very smoothly. It was pretty much the same feeling as driving the Proton X70, only I felt the X70 was bigger and taller, obviously. The driving experience is very good, it is comfortable and sporty at the same time. Like I said, the car is very refined.

• Cons

1.Rough engine sound (but it’s very quiet, you can’t hear it from the inside and even when you’re not near the car)
2.The 360-camera is not as advanced as the Proton X70
3.No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
