Basic information about my car:
Perodua Kancil ERA
Reasons why I bought this car(purpose)
My first ride since 1996, the Kancil was brought over from my cousin after been using for 8-month. To me still consider a brand-new car. During that year, Perodua started to introduce Special Edition Model (Kancil Era) after the first batch of standard Kancil model. The unique of this Special Edition model was 2-tone colour from body strip Black Top/Silver Bottom. The rest are quite normal as it's came along with standard accessories.
After few years knowing that actually Perodua Malaysia was sister company between Daihatsu Japan and they sharing the same platform with Daihatsu Mira(aka: Kancil), I get to explore eventually Daihatsu Mira model came with the 660cc 3-cylinder EFI/ single cam/12 valves turbocharge Intercooler engine code: EF-JL / L200.

I was admiring with Japanese Daihatsu Mira accessories and decided to convert them partly. The most important thing must be done at engine swap with Daihatsu EF-JL / L200 for better performance & fuel efficiency.
When times goes by and age getting older, and since I've no plans to sold my ride, I decided to keep it as my collection favourite car. So, I've decided to have 2nd time change on my Kancil power train from EF-JL / L200(MT)to JB-JL / L502(AT).
The specification is water-cooled inline-four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve EFI, the bore and stroke size is 61.0 mm x 56.4 mm, which made 659 cc of displacement. The camshaft was driven by a timing chain, which was very rare for a kei car at that time.
I've bought it from halfcut shop, which only cause me RM 2,500. At that time the shop owner is given out as stock clearance with discount. Hahaha!!!

Engine transfer on progress
After the completion engine transfer works, I've slowly refurbished the exterior with new paint job & some replacement accessories for upgrade works.
Finally, I've created my own design car model that suits my taste. I always prefer a standard design from exterior and combination parts from Japan Daihatsu which Perodua Malaysia didn't introduce such technology during those ages.

Maybe for today generation, many will think it's worthy to spend such investment to full fill some hobby and collection, with all the effort, times & budget at an old junk metal, maybe not even worth RM 5k value, but to me and even some car lovers, I can say it's worth of million.
To me it is not because of the value or the brand that I'm driving, it's because the ride has been with me from day one, I've purchased it and the year we've been together. It brings me satisfaction and pleasant ownership.
A big thanks to Perodua Malaysia that brings in such a simple model which allows me to convert different parts available from Daihatsu Japan. Here ends my Perodua Kancil Era journey. Bye!!!
