Basic information
2018, PERODUA, AXIA, MANUAL, PETROL, RM24,350
Reasons why I bought this car
I bought the car in 2018 when my previous car a VW POLO 2004 broke down. I need a new car fast to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Seremban. I live in Perlis and I need a car to bring back Kuih Raya and gifts for family and friends.
The contender at that time is Bezza and Saga Manual since those are one of the cheapest offering of both P1 and P2 car manufacturer aside from Axia. Since I have already determine that I need the cheapest car, and new therefore I made the decision to go for the manual.
Before the purchase process, I had dilemmas regarding the safety features of this car however since I am a determined person, I made a vow not to drive recklessly and do high speed at highways. This car did not have ABS and or any other safety features aside from seatbelts and two airbags for the front passenger. Though because of these it made the car lighter and low fuel consumption.
Car selection process

Models that I have considered include: The contender at that time is Bezza and Saga Manual since those are one of the cheapest offering of both P1 and P2 car manufacturer aside from Axia.
I took a car loan for 9 years with this car. I paid around RM3K for DP and the monthly payment is RM280. Since 2020, the monthly payment lowered because Govt revised the OPR because of the Covid Pandemic. Moreover, I have been in love with the AXIA manual since it first came out. I love the simplicity and the affordable price. This is a car that you can repair in any shop with a cheap price and a car that you can keep forever.
This car is so simple you won't need to worry about electrical problems. all the adjustments for seats, airconditioning, headlamps are manual. It serves as what is it intended to do. I also do not need to worry so much about regular maintenance such as engine oil replacement and fuel filter. Not that it is not important but this is a car that you can skip 1000km or two if you forgot the maintenance schedule.
When I drive it Jalan-Jalan around Arau and Kangar I feel so wonderful because I did not feel worried about the fuel consumption. After all, with RM10 it can last 3 days without refueling.
User experience
-
I have already done 23000 km.
This is the BEST purchase for a new car. if you are looking to find a new car, no-frills car then this is the car for you. Not all people need keyless, android touch screen entertainment, automatic headlights in their car.
There is no feeling of it broken down or worry that any of the warning lights came on because this car is reliable and it is not a sophisticated and complicated car in terms of its technologies.
Pros&Cons
Pros
Fuel consumption is marvelous. The full tank from Arau to Seremban never exceeds RM60 however, I do have to top up the fuel at Rawang RnR since the fuel indicator has only one bar left. This happened at a constant speed of 110 KM/H at using the highway.
Using the car is so simple. You need the key to unlocked the door and insert the key at the ignition to start the car. For others, this may be a chore because everything is wireless now however, I felt that I am being more responsible and aware of my doing in operating this car.
The cabin is surprisingly large and airy. I am 178cm tall and weighs 100kg. You can fit similar size adult at the front passenger without knees touching each other.
The boot is also big and can fit 3 big pieces of luggage upright. The backseat can be folded, although not completely flat for placing the long object. I once carried a bike without taking off its tires and also a double-deck fridge in this car.
The car came with rim Kompang. you do not need to worry that your expensive alloy rims be dented or dirties. However, you do need to put some plastic lotion on the plastic nut cover to make sure that it will no be hardened and brittle.
Cons
Fit and finish especially the trim at the car passenger window is not good. The more you wind up and down the window, the more lifted the plastic trim at the door panel. I guess the glue had faded and this causes the problem.
The car is underpowered especially climbing the Terowong Menora in Ipoh. You have to be in second gear at 60KM/H and some time at first gear at 30KM/H at the steepest section. You can use third gear at 80KM/H but the engine will sound its protest.
The car will punish you if you do an emergency break in the rain at 120 KM/H since it had no ABS. I found the hard way at Jalan Duta before the Tol Plaza Duta from North and South Highway. Even when the brake pedal is pressed, the car continues to lunge forward since the wheel is locked. You have to learn to brake intermittently similarly to ABS to make sure that the wheel is doesn't lock during hard braking.
The seats are terrible. It is not good for the long journey and your back will start to hurt after three hours journey non-stop. The seat is almost flat without lumbar support.
This car has no auto-lock for all doors even for the car boot. You have to make sure to lock it manually each time you leave the car.
you have to take singing classes to make sure your voice is SEDAP if you plan to take a long journey with passengers since this car has no radio.

Summary
Many cars can suit your budget. There are also many specifications that you can select based on what you need. I had determined that I need a new, simple car with the lowest possible price possible. I also owned two other cars, YES another Axia but auto, given to my mom for her use in Kampung, a W210 Mercedes, A Benelli Kapchai, and a Suzuki superbike. This is a car that I can use to run errands around and commute to work every day.
Interesting event(s) that happened to your car
Yes, there is an interesting event that happened to me. I went to collect the car at the showroom with my best friend. He went along and sit in the passenger seats. A month later, suddenly he calls me to have breakfast together and ask me to ride his car. Imagined my surprise when he shows up with Axia Auto and the same color as mine, silver. He smiles and says 'Penangan Axia la orang kata'.
