Basic information
2013 Peugeot 208 (3 Door) – Red
Reason why I bought this car
Guys, I am back. You might not know me, but some of you might remember my last owner review of the Kia Optima GT whose FB comment area has become a warzone (sorry Wapcar) due to a guy who owns 6 cars. Lets try not to repeat that this time~
Back in 2013, I just graduated from university from foreign, so it’s time to buy a car. At that, the only knowledge I know about cars is: cars got 4 wheels while motorcycles got 2 only.
Car selection process
I had a budget of: RM 100k
Models that I have considered include:
The reason why I choose this car
The car selection process didn’t go well, until one day my family and I had breakfast and passed by the Peugeot service centre. I never heard about this brand, I entered the service centre as a result of curiosity.
Our eyes were immediately attracted by the 5-door red 208 by the door, and the salesperson told us a special unit was displayed on the 2nd floor.
While we stepped out from the lift (or stairs? I can’t recall that), there was a 3-door red 208 there and we couldn’t describe how sexy that bitch was (compared to the models I considered before). And the car is 95k, which got a further 5k discount for the display unit.
User experience
I have already done 150,000km. (7 years and 2 months)
Sub 100k car, I believe the 3 door 208 has one of the best looking shapes, especially her booty ass (you may Google the meaning if you don’t get it, but make sure your parents are not looking at your monitor/phone).
Interior quality is good enough even today, I don’t wanna say too much, you just look at the picture.
Features
She offers one of the top specs among others back in 2013, such as auto wiper, auto headlight, panoramic sunroof with ambient light, 6 airbags, etc…….
The car has 120hp and 0-100 in around 10.7 sec. This result is not impressive at all even in her segment, not to mention easily overtaken by the king of the road – The Myvi.
But she is a Peugeot, her handling is one of the best in class. The car is very fun in cornering and the tiny steering also feels like it is designed for “daily cornering” purpose, which is strictly followed by me.
The next thing worth mentioning is the stability. The car is very light weight (around 1080kg only) but she is very stable on highway, which credits give to the solid chassis and big size tyre (205/17/45). She might not be as stable as the D segment, but touching the level of the C segment is not a problem.
I get an average fuel consumption of 8.4KM/L in city driving. The FC is terrible due to my aggressive habit – 24/7 full throttle and hitting 5k-6k rpm 10-30 times daily.
If you want to get the true FC result, sorry I can’t give you. You better open your own topic in Wapcar to gather information from other owners.
This is the most concerning topic while people are talking about Peugeot cars. But the smart readers should notice that my car is equipped with an old NA engine and 4AT gearbox, without a turbo.
How can this old setup go wrong? Indeed I didn’t face any major issue during the 7 years of my life. There were several times changing aircon (include recall), one time alternator, few times suspension, two set engine mounting.
While everyone else is claiming the after sales service of Peugeot is poor, I am lucky to have my car service in Skudai SC, Johor Bahru. The warranty claims were very smooth, normally I sent in the car in the morning, and in the evening or next day it was ready for collection. And the personnel there are also quite professional.
Last but not least, as a result of 10-30 times 6k RPM daily for 150km mileage in 7.5 years, her reliability is totally acceptable for me. Not to mention the car drives like new now due to the solid chassis.

Summary
To conclude, did I regret buying this car? No second-hand value, limited warranty at the moment and bad FC (for me)
The above sentence was copied from my own Optima review and the answer is still a big NO. The car is fun, solid and didn’t cause much problem. I started to like cars after I bought her.
Some interesting events
I still can recall that I met a Myvi beside me while waiting at a traffic light. We both performed a 0-100 sprint and he smoked me in the end…….not in the end, he IMMEDIATELY smoked me on the next second the light turned green.
If my first lesson in my life was taught by my parents, then my first lesson out of school is taught by Malaysia King – The MYVI.
