Basic information about my car
2018 Perodua Myvi 1.5 Advance
Reasons why I bought this car
Car Selection Process
-
I had a budget of RM65K
-
Model(s) that I have considered include: Honda Jazz 1.5 S 2018 or Proton Iriz 1.6 Executive
Reasons why I chose this car:
I have test driven both model countless time and the Honda Jazz is an excellent car to drive and better absorption of the road bumps yet the Model S spec with the fabric seats and the simple head unit makes the interior kinda bland, while with 2 airbag compared to 6 airbag with Myvi 1.5 Adv. The Proton Iriz has superb handling yet the CVT transmission with that rubber band effect is a big let down for me.
User Experience
-
I have already done 30,000 km
Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are:
It is a big upgrade for me from driving the small yet humble Perodua Kancil to this "supercar" Perodua Myvi. Zero issues so far as expected from Perodua cars. At first I thought the ASA system for the Myvi is a gimmick yet it did save me few time from nearly having an accident.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- It is very frugal in the fuel consumption.
- The quality of the material and feel is improved from the previous model
- The Automatic Braking System is useful feature and it is the cheapest car with this feature
- The rear legroom is huge
- Sufficient size for rear trunk space with full size spare tire
Cons
- Even though the handling is improved from the previous model Myvi yet not planted when driving at speed at excess of 140km/h
- Doesn't have auto wiper or auto headlights
- The factory equipped reverse camera is poor in quality
- The 4 speed automatic transmission which is kinda old fashioned.
- Does not have a temperature gauge, thus i have to install an aftermarket one

Summary
The Perodua Myvi is value worth for the money, with the features and safety provided is a good buy. I enjoy driving it for the daily commutes and the highway runs.
The drive is improved from the previous model and the 4 speed automatic although old fashioned yet have better gear change logic as it will down-shift when braking going down a slope which gives engine braking, while the car have good mid end rpm range thus gives enough torque to perform overtaking maneuvers. Eventhough that all, it is still a city car and to utilize the fuel saving economy is by driving within the "ECO" indicator range. I have confidence like my old Perodua Kancil, this Perodua Myvi will go from point A to point B and beyond
without fail for years to come.
