Owner Review: Fits my style, with a few nice upgrades - My 2021 Perodua Ativa H

Basic information

2021 Perodua Ativa H Spec Special Metallic Red

Reason why I bought this car

• To replace my old Honda Jazz GD
• As a secondary car used for work travel.
• Need a higher ground vehicle but not too extreme like 4x4 because I always travel on countryside roads.
• Not too big and not too small, nice in handling and parking.
• Easy to get part and maintain

Car selection process

• I had a budget of: RM 100k
• Models that I have considered include: Mitsubishi Xpander, Proton X50

The reason why I choose this car

• More goodies with super affordable prices.
• Not too long, not too wide alse high ground clearance.
• Relaxing driving position with high view.
• 98% local part so got no problem with part and accessories.
• Its believe in Perodua

User experience

I have already done 2000km. 

My average fuel consumption is 15Km/L.

• It's a solid car and actually looks kinda luxurious with mere price even on H Spec.
• I love the interior design and colour. It's very good at keeping me calm while driving.

• More than enough space for me to mostly travel solo for work.
• Kinda big SUV feel when driving with all that torque and mapping. Lot of power by just pushing the power button. 

• Until now I still can’t feel like driving a 1000cc car. It's so smooth and powerful.
• The DVCT gearbox is also so smooth and comes with manual shift selection. I love to use it a few times when I need some power push.

• Luggage area is very spacious, I can put anything. But I added a roof rack for my MTB.

Pros & Cons

Pros

• High height is very good for undulating roads.
• ASC very helps in control at corners.
• High driving position

• Lots of torque
• Very different feel when using PWR mode.
• Lot of space and it feels comfortable
• Keyless system is very good
• ASA superb in giving early warning
• Aircond is so good and cold

• Love the adaptive light very much. Also the LED is very bright. I always travel at night and early morning, very good on darker roads, mostly I travel Seremban-Gemas and that area mostly with no street lights and less houses throughout that road. High beam all the way.

Cons

• Idle stop default on is very disturbing.
• Steering assist also kinda disturbs my driving style but good because it can be on or off. I will use it on long highway trips. For country roads it's not very good for Malaysia's narrow roads. For example, when you overtake a motorcycle. It's very dangerous when the steering wheel pulls back.

• Audio head unit is good for the price but the speakers suck for H spec. I just got 4pcs 6” door speakers. I added on Soundstream Full Range Speaker, Soundstream under seat Tweeter and underseat Alpine active subwoofer. And it completes all the tones in music. I love to drive with the punch of music.

Summary

I Love it so much, it suits my driving style and the roads that I always use. I drove mostly 90% on country roads. It's very comfortable on uneven road.

Handling is also good, I have so much power to overtake. I feel confident to overtake long lorries even if the roads are narrow. It got all the tech and look.

Some interesting events

Travelling on country roads, many interesting things happen such as floods, long lorries, bumpy roads, potholes, dark roads with haze and many more that can be overcome by this car.

I also once drove in a plantation area. It was very superb if this car came with AWD. Best thing is that I won’t worry for another 5 years for parts and service.

This is kinda small in pic but in real life it is a very impressive big mini SUV, for your info my other car is a 5 years old Mitsubishi ASX. So I know what it feels like when driving an SUV. It’s very good because the price is only half of the price on the ASX.
