Is there still a reason to buy the XC40 when it's so similar but price is more than double? Geely Binyue uses the same CMA platform as the Volvo XC40. The X50 is also using the same engine as the XC40 just with a lower state of tune.

Volvo is an independent entity although ultimately owned by Geely. Geely is an automotive giant that did not buy Volvo to cannibalise it but to profit from it. Yes, there are certainly technology transfers between Geely and Volvo but never to affect Volvo's sales. Afterall, it's just good business sense. Volvo is synonymous with safety and innovation. Its performance is severely underrated and often overshadowed by popular German marques with superior advertising dollar. A GLA250 AMG Line or an X3 30i M Sport, both with lesser power output and similar tech are way more expensive than an XC40. The XC40 may look similar at a glance but it is a very different vehicle from a Binyue/X50. Just like the recent collaboration between Swatch and Omega. There is no way you're really getting an Omega with that fancy plastic Speedmaster.

Wth did i just read? So similar? Listen. 1 Tomyum recipe, copy it, 1 give to upstart chef, another give to veteran chef. U think the taste will be the same? The spiciness? Sweet? Sour? Colour? Intensity? Broth consistency? U may call both tomyum but there will be those who absolutely love the taste of one & absolutely hate the other. Why? Because it's NOT SIMILAR, despite the name.
