WapCar Help Hanging vs floor mounted gas pedal?
A lot of cars have suspended accelerator pedals. And I was wondering, what is the advantage of doing this? Based on my observation, most pricy vehicles use floor mounted ones.
And I've heard that Toyota stopped using suspension pedals after the recall for safety reasons, but I see that most Mercedes Benz are floor mounted. So is it a cost issue? Or is it a front wheel drive issue? Or purely style? Can anyone shed some light on this?

From opinions of others, floor mounted is supposed to be the more luxurious option. It makes sense because it is more intuitive.

Suspending is easier to move from throttle to brake because you can keep your heel in one place. Floor-mounted requires more foot movement.

Actually, the small suspended pedal area makes it easy for the footplate to slip off when driving aggressively, causing accidents. However, these pedals offer some considerable cost savings.

Maybe the length of suspended pedals is generally shorter and the structure is relatively simpler than floor mounted ones.
