Does anyone ever clean the engine bay? Is it necessary to clean it? Any guide? I have driven my Mazda for years. I recently saw the engine bay is very dirty. Without cleaning, a lot of dust tends to stick to the engine which I read is bad for the fuel efficiency too, and causes the engine parts to wear faster. I would like to DIY wash the engine bay. Can anyone here ever clean the engine room can give me some guide?

Some petrol stations can provide engine bay wash. Okay, and it is often expensive. But I think it is more reliable.

Send to professional car wash/spa and specify engine wash. They have dry powder cleaning where there is no water used and will not cause any short circuits. Main component that must not have water to contact is the Alternator unit. Some use plastic bags to cover but still a risk to do
