So I’m seeing many people asking about whether they can afford the x50 at xxx salary...come i share with you how to calculate, even if you have passive income money coming in.
The bank will always calculate the lowest salary you have even if you have other source of money. And good rule of thumb is to spend only 30% on car payments because it will get very expensive…
For example: If your salary RM 2000 x 30% = RM 600 on car...then you need to minus off your home loan, other loans, debts, commitments...it will be quite difficult already. Don’t forget, we don’t know how much the x50 is going to cost so downpayment is also important to factor in.
At least prepare around RM10-15k for the downpayment. Very important. And please consider safely before you go ahead and purchase...dont just buy because of style.
Agree?

I am an suv owner. Changed from small mpv to a full fledged suv. What i think we need to also consider is suv fuel consumption is way higher.

It’s nice to drive in a new car but do consider your monthly capability to sustain the instalment . Also need to keep aside some for periodically maintenance at designated Service centres which is way more expensive than freelance mechanic and also a substantial amount for insurance/ Roadtax. Sometimes older car but without instalment and expensive maintenance is a better choice. Today’s scenario having cash is better as the economy and work security is not predictable.

Many people calculate base on monthly affordability. I wonder how many have actually set aside contingency of road tax, insurance, tyres, maintenance etc? I would recon buyer to calculate this out and set aside on monthly basis. Many people kalut when road tax/insurance expire or tyres need to be change.

for me...if you buy a brand new car...aftersales and its track selling record is very very crucial. no point buying a high spec, full safety features here and there but aftersales fucked up, slow, waiting spares took ridiculously long time.for used car, track record reliability and availability of parts to choose (oem, taiwan, china, etc) is important, up to the fact that even a 'bengkel bawah pokok ceri' can rectify and repair that car.

Instead of safety features, I call them babysitting features for incompetent drivers.I want the flagship variant solely for the higher performance numbers. If the babysitting features are too noisy (always making sounds every few minutes) guaranteed I'll turn them off. I'm doing fine on the road without all these stuff present in my older cars.
