Here is the thing. The car battery died when I was about to go out yesterday morning. I was kinda annoyed, cuz I just drove my car (a new car) for no more than 1 year.
Fortunately, my friend, a mechanic, came to help me out. I complained to him about the battery issue. Then he said premature battery failure was more about driving habits rather than the quality of batteries/ battery defect.
I was kinda surprised and I thought there might be some people like me having this misconception. So I wanna share the tips told by my friend here.
1. Avoid parking your car under the hot sun
In high temperature, the fluid in car batteries is inclined to evaporation, and this leads to an increase in corrosion damage inside the batteries and eventual failure. Thus, we should manage to reduce the heat exposure, parking our cars in the shade or garage, especially when we have the damn hot weather here🥵
2. Avoid driving short trips frequently
The car battery can ‘refresh’ itself if we drive frequently and get more mileage, during which it could be fully recharged by the engine. On the contrary, too much short-distance driving prevents the battery from compensating for the loss of power. In the long run, the battery voltage will reduce steadily until it can no longer start the car.
So, if your car sleeps in the porch most of the time, better buy a battery charger to help keep the proper voltage.
3. Turn off all the electricals before leaving your car
Various electricals in our cars like air cond, radio, and lights could consume the energy of car batteries while the engine is off. So double check all the accessories as you walk away.
4. Examine the battery condition regularly
Prevention is better than cure. Proper maintenance effectively extends the lifespan of batteries. So better check the battery monthly for any leaks or bulging and to ensure that the top is clean, and examine if there is any damage to the clamps, cables, terminals, or screws.
That's all. If you find these tips are helpful, plz give me a thumbs-up ya! Or if you have better suggestions, you’re welcome to comment below😁

The harmful impact on the battery caused by long-term short trips is called ‘acid stratification’. To put it simply, the electrolytes in the battery distribute unevenly. You can fix it by turning the battery up side down for a while like twice a month.

Actually traffic jams also do harm to the car battery. lots of time idling and low speed...battery also couldn't be charged fully.

I didn’t realize that the further you drive the more charged your battery is. That sounds silly but seriously I never thought of it.😂

I drive short distances every couple of days. Once a month I may go on a longer trip. Is this enough to charge my battery?🤔
