Any advice if a pick-up truck is suitable for a one-car family? I like the new Hilux Rogue, test-driven, quite nice, but any more advice? Some people say no point because wasting petrol, and unnecessarily expensive for a car.

If you want to use it as a family car, test the backseats to see if it is comfortable or not for your family for long trips. Most modern trucks have isofix so that’s good. After that, invest in some sort of bed cover, so when you travel you can secure yout stuff. An SUV is more suitable for family but you may like the pickup truck to carry stuff or go off roading if it has 4wd

At the age of 30, I got myself a pick-up truck, but only use it for a fraction of the year. I use it for garden work, camping with my family or friends.

If you think buying a pick-up truck is the right thing to do, then just do it. As long as you have the money, the decision is in your hands. Even though your parents don’t like it, that’s okay, they can always choose other vehicles.
