What are some modifications that are legal in Malaysia ? I just recently got a Honda Civic FD2 and I want to know which modifications are legal or illegal in Malaysia, as I know the modifications are in a bit of a gray area.

Nothing is really "legal" and "non legal" as long as you declare. Car paint color and engine cc you must declare to JPJ and car insurance as color can be used by law enforcer to identify car easier and cc used to determine road tax and insurance price. Another thing is head lamp, make sure light color, brightness and level of height of the light is same as the one with manufacturer. The rest of the modification it is your risk of voiding car warrenty.

If want to do modification then don't worry about legal or illegal. Every modification can be legal and illegal. It's hard to tell.

Not much you can do to be honest, illegal ones are roll cages and even flashing lights other than your turn signals.

You can swap transmission, from auto to manual or vice versa
