User Test Drive: As A GM3 and GM6 Owner, I Think The Honda City 2020 Is Really Good! Here's Why

Purpose (Why did you make a visit to the dealer?)

To test drive the new model for Honda City and gives review and feedback due to I have another 2 old Honda City which are model 2009 E Spec (GM3) and 2018 S Spec (GM6 Facelift). I am excited to know details on the new model with new engine and the design. I believe in term of performance and comfort Honda always created an excellent product. I was just lucky when I came to the Honda showroom that V Spec test drive unit had just arrived. So, for me is fair if I do a comparison between my Old Honda City to New Honda City. Below are my sincere feedback and view towards the New Honda City.

Exterior

Before this new Honda City was launched, I had watch a sneak peek video. I recognize the design of front LED lamp and back LED are stunning. On top of that, the lamp is a similar design as my Honda Civic FC and it shows a high-class appearance.

However, the sport rim design is quite simple compare to my Old Model GM3. By the way, Side Mirror position has already moved to front door and make the car look stylish and help the driver to recognize blind spots at C-pillar.

The boot size still the biggest in the class. My experience during Hari Raya, I can put everything including lemang and rendang also my baby cradle.

Interior

When I first enter the driver seat, I can say Honda has done a very good job by applying the minimalist design, creating a beautiful meter console, simple air conditioner display. The most important thing is the entertainment display unit is quite big and clear. From my experience, 8” Display size for below 100k car will give extra value. As usual (including me) people will find aftermarket audio player with big screen size.

During the test drive, I found out that the interior has dual color is matching with black and cream. But from my experience, cream color is not suitable for a family car due to easy to get dirty.

The front air conditioner has a splendid design and it is good to have rear air conditioner vents. This new Honda City engine sounds a bit rough when I push the paddle acceleration at the floor compare with my model GM3, maybe because of DOHC engine.

• Big size entertainment screen
• Rear air conditioner vent
• Big space for the boot
• Simple air conditioner console
• Lane watch (I like very much)

Cons

• No front parking sensor (even New Saga have)
• Interior design with Cream Color
• Front USB hub doesn’t have cover
• Design sport rim (should have dual-tone color)

Summary

My overall feeling toward this model is worth to buy and value for money. It is suitable for family with 2 kids. It look like executive car in their class and come with biggest boot space.In summary, this car has an impressive design, new engine couple with a CVT gearbox and linear driving style but not so aggressive. The interior design looks modern and decent.
