Owner Review: The Presidential Choice? - My story of 2014 Proton Perdana 2.0

Basic information about my car:

Mirza: 2014 Proton Perdana 2.0

Reasons why I bought this car:

As my son would be starting school (kindergarten) in 2022, an extra car is needed to shuttle him to and fro, as well as additional mobility for the Mrs when I'm at work (non office hours working time). Time & money had already been invested in the previous car, so selling it is not an option. Plus it had all been paid for.

Car Selection Process

• I had a budget of RM45-50k .
• I had cars like the new Proton Saga & Persona in my checklist, as well as a used Proton Inspira as I'm more interested in sedans. But I generally prefer larger sedans as I at times require the space it provides, coupled with comfort & maintenance costs as well as handling.

Why did I choose Perdana? Well first, I have a soft spot for it, being a D segment in the price range i am looking for, easy to source parts as it is a rebadged Accord. Low mileage as one can check with the service booklet, generally clean interior plus finding a stock configuration is almost guaranteed.

User Experience

• I have already done 3000 km.
• My average fuel consumption is 7-8.1L/100km.

I find the car meeting my expectation, everything works as it should, and I find the remotely operated rear sunshade kinda neat, a fine addition to not only filter too much sunlight from the rear but also those who tend to drive with high beams at night.

Pros and Cons

Pros of my car

-Comfortable
-A/C turns on the heater if you raise the temperature, good for super wet cold nights.
-Good fuel consumption for its size (in my opinion)
-Huge space, able to haul cargo + passengers without sacrificing the ability to carry both.

Cons

- Big, hassle to park in small parking areas.
- Not as nimble as a C segment car so if ur in for handling get a Preve or Civic (if used market).
