Basic information
2020 Mazda 2 1.5 Facelift (Sedan)
Reasons why I bought this car
I bought the car to upgrade my own driving experience from Axia. Since I started working 2 years ago and needed a more reliable and quality car to accommodate my daily journey to work (roughly about 60km for 1 day), I always wish to have a car that is balanced in terms of quality, handling, fuel consumption, appearance and interior. Looking at the reduced sales tax in 2020 due to the MCO and year-end sales, I decided to commit one in the range of RM1000 per month. Since it is my first car bought by myself, I am choosing this car for its facelift (new exterior), and to be honest, there are a lot of other brands of the vehicle on the road relatively compare to Mazda 2.
Car selection process
-
I had a budget of: 1000 per month/ 120k otr price
-
Models that I have considered include: Honda Civic 1.5 TC, Honda City, Proton X50
Reasons why I chose this car:
1. Recently facelifted model (not many people have bought this)
2. Sporty exterior
3. New LEF headlamp is sexy
4. Skyactive technology
I did a lot of surveys from Mazda owners and most of them are sticking to the brand itself for reliable services and good handling/quality. Test drive also made me felt the difference in the handling of the above cars.
User experience
-
I have already done 7000 km
Since I am using it a lot due to my work-home distance. The first thing I noticed is that the interior is very comfortable for the driver even for long-distance driving. I spend 30 mins - 1 hour per trip daily and I never had any problem with the seats. The most satisfying area is that the speed transmission is smooth and with minimum slack time as I normally use pedal shifting. Even on rainy days, my car does give me a better sense of control not to mention during fast driving, the control and handling are also better than my previous car. Personal opinion, the car is a bit expensive compare to other B-segment but with the driving experience I think it is a good trade (and lesser new Mazda 2 on the road makes me feel snowflakes abit haha)
Pros&Cons

Summary
Mazda 2 is a good car if you have an extra budget for B-segment. The quality of the body, handling, cornering, interior and exterior is meeting my needs and expectation. I am madly in love with this car but hey, it might be different for others.
Interesting events that happened to my car
