Owner review: Premium Car, Bargain price tag — My Proton X50 Premium Citric Orange

Proton X50 Premium Citric Orange

Reasons why I bought this car:

This is a new model of National car(Proton) and the shape is stylish, quality, elegant, full LED headlamp, 18" sport rim and quad exhaust. It comes with advanced features and technology.

The interior design and the quality is awesome and specious. Dual tone leather seat, red color dashboard and armrest. The infotainment system is very useful, especially the Hi Proton features. It is easy for me to use the navigation system, play online music and 10.25" of screen.

At first I planned to buy a Honda City, Toyota Vios and Nissan Almera. After I saw the test drive unit at Genting in June 2019 on YouTube (Blue Color of Geely BinYue@SX11), I've changed my mind. I've been honestly waiting for the new car to come after I saw this car on YouTube. I finally got my car after 6months of booking.(17 September 2020 Booking)

Car Selection Process

• I had a budget of RM 100k
• Models that I have considered include: Honda City, Toyota Vios and Nissan Almera

The reason why I chose this car is because it's a premium car. It's stable for long distance driving with superdrive and handling, cruise control, powerful performance, 7DCT gearbox, aircond and rear air vent is cold, fun run, quiet cabin, NVH is awesome (although the engines 3 cylinder) and the safety features(6 airbags).

Power seat is very useful and totally comfortable! The fuel consumption is acceptable for long distance driving. The 360 camera and the tyre pressure monitoring system are very useful. I can use the Proton Link app to start the car, at the same time the aircond will be automatically on and window ventilation etc.

The auto headlamp is very useful in the night time. The digital meter cluster is very beautiful and modern. Sport mode is very powerful and fast, easy for me to overtake on the highway. The welcome lamp features are so cute.

User Experience

• I have already done9,946 km.
• My average fuel consumption is 8.9l/100km.

Fuel consumption without cruise control value

Normal mode: 15.45km/l

Eco mode: 14.34km/l

Sport mode: 14.59km/l

Awesome features, power seat is easy to adjust my sit position, the ride and handling is good, powerful performance, stable for long distance, good NVH, stylish design and build quality.

The 7DCT gearbox is smooth, very responsive and powerful. The cruise control can help me to cruise all the way and I can let my leg rest. I will activate the auto hold when I'm stuck at a traffic light and I don't need to kick and hold the brake until the green light. The front fog light will automatically turn on when I turn the steering wheel during low speed about 30km/h and below or idle mode when the headlamp is on. 
About the fuel consumption depend on traffic condition (driver only, 86kg): 

1. City drive (Min - Max) Eco mode 1L=5.9km - 8.5km Normal mode 1L = 6.6km - 8.5km Sport mode 1L = 6.8km - 9.1km

2. Long distance driving with cruise control 90km/h about 110km (Min - Max) Eco mode 1L = 13.7km Normal mode 1L = 13.8km - 14.4km Sport mode 1L = 13.5km - 14.6km Long distance (about 185km) and city drive (about 100km) Min - Max: Sport mode 1L = 11.2km Normal mode 1L = 10.8km

8.no ACC, AEB, LKA,LDW and Blind Spot Information System
9.360 camera is low resolution

Summary:

This is a good product and value for money. I really love my car. The Hi Proton features and the Proton Link app are very useful. Good quality, performance and stylish design, modern and advanced technology. 5 star Asean NCAP of safety etc. Very comfortable and powerful performance for long distance traveling and I enjoyed it. By the way, fuel consumption is not my priority. Overall, Proton has done a good job and we benefit from the product quality and the advanced features and technology.

Lastly：

I'm surprised when I saw the front welcome lamps was activated after I opened the front door (both driver side and passenger side) in the evening. 

I told myself the car I buy must have a good quality, safety features, powerful performance and stable.
