Basic information
PROTON PERDANA 2.4 (2017)
Reasons why I bought this car
I just need a bigger sedan, and this perdana caught my attention because of the price is quite cheap. I chose this car because i think it is easier to maintain for a long term use, there's no turbo, no complicated computer system, basically it's just a simple car. And the previous owner also rarely use the car, only 18k KM on the odometer, full service at Proton, and the car is only 2 years old at that time.
Car selection process
- I had a budget of: RM 80,000
- Models that I have considered include: HONDA CIVIC, PROTON X70
- Reasons why I chose this car:
I choose this car mainly because of the price. For 2.4 engine and a very spacious car with this price range is pretty much worth the amount paid for. And of course, it is a Honda after all, in a Proton body. Honda civic is nice, but the design is more to sportier side, plus there's too many civic out there which make the car looks boring overtime.
User experience
- I have already done 60,000 km.
My experience so far, it's good! The car is smooth, quite, and very comfortable. But, i dont know this is a honda engine issue or else, the 2.4 engine feels under powered. Or maybe because the weight of the car. However, the engine is smooth and comfortable combined with 5-speed gearbox. I'm not a honda user, and my biggest complain will be the handling of the car, like i mention this is a honda handling, not proton's. The handling is too soft/light and easy to over steer, but overall, it handles well. Moreover, the most underated feature of this car that i like is; the window will go down to half when you long press the unlock button on the remote. It is so convenient since it will let the hot air to escape before you enter the car, with this hot weather in Malaysia.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Worth the price
- Spacious and comfortable
- Not many Perdana on the road
- Maintenance wise is similar with bezza and vios
- Simple car, and easy to maintain (not too much system or computer stuff)
- Long press of the unlock button on the remote will trigger all of the car window to half open (let hot air escape before you enter)
Cons
- Handling is too soft/light
- Feels under powered for 2.4 engine
- Accessories/Exterior parts may be difficult to find
- DRL wont last long
- Old interior design
- Roadtax cost around RM700/year

Summary
Overall, I'm proud to have this Perdana. This is going to be the last "Perdana" series that Proton will ever produced since Geely has already take over Proton. This car is comfortable, spacious, and the engine is very quite, although is not as good as Proton ride and handling, it is okay and still manageable. Finally, I can say that this car is quite rare, only few available on the road and that makes this car special. For this kind of car and the price, it is worth every ringgit spent.
