Toyota Mark X250, 2005, Registered 2008
I had a budget of RM 45k
Model(s) that I have considered include: Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, BMW 3 series
Reasons why I chose this car:
The very first reason I chose this car was because it has a considerable powerful engine with almost 210 HP, the 4 gear V6 engine mated with a 6 Speed Shift-Matic transmission.
The Second reason was because of its looks, the body style and the outlooks, bold and sporty with the bodykit.
The third reason, it has a good space in the front and at the rear seats. Rear seats has plenty of space and can be inclined backward for more comfortable seating position.
I have already done 30,000 km
Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are:
Previously, I had owned a 2015 SUV from a famous car maker, and it did put high standards on my driving experience. And yes, I did test drive many cars before I bought MARK X. Happily I can say, even though its a 15-year-old car, it came upon my expectations, I really love to drive it, the way it handles, the feeling of driving a V6, there is always enough power to overtake on two-way roads.
It has been almost 3 years since I bought the car, I do service the engine and the other fluids on time, it never had given me any engine or transmission problem and I had not did any major maintenance or parts replacement, except for brake pads, balljoints and stablizer-link. Other than that I can say the parts are more reliable and can withstand wear and tear for a very long time.
Most people would say the parts are expensive or difficult to find, but hey, parts might be comparatively abit expensive but they are reliable, and why worry when everything is online now days, trouble-shoot the car problem, get your car's catalogue and find it online, you can outsource and find parts for your car anywhere around the world for good price. In fact I did the transmission filter and oil change by myself, and I followed the exact transmission SOP for this machine.
Pros
Reliable Car
Enough power
Best for long distance drives
Enough space
Enough safety systems like new cars
Cons
Japanese touch screen
Disc brakes are smaller abit

Summary
I am satisfied with Mark X, compare to other cars it is solid built and still looks stylish and bold. Under the hood it has the same V6 engine 4 gear as in Toyota Crown and Lexus IS250.
It is not a high performance car, but it is fun to drive, cornering, hill climb, slow or fast it never had let me down anywhere.
City drive light foot can get me almost Average 8 - 9 km/L while long drives on highways if average speed 110 -140 km/hr it is 12-14km/L.
Just to share a bit on Mark X enthusiasts in my home country, it is a rare car, and a 2005 - 2008 make can cost you as double or triple the price here in Malaysia.
Final question, am I gonna sell it, well I think I am gonna keep it for a 2 gear transplant or supercharge it, or as it is.
