Basic information about my car:
2010 Proton Persona 1.6 (MT)
Reasons why I bought this car(purpose):
Because this car is very large and practical for me as my first car. I am a driver for my family. Since my family did not like to drive a manual car, I am the only family that loves to like manual cars.
Car Selection Process
- I had a budget of RM30,000
- Models that I have considered include Proton Persona, Proton Satria Neo, Proton Putra.
Because this car has nice handling. Have been considered as a national sports car or elegance (persona). Nice exterior and interior design. Simple component and low cost maintenance.
User Experience
- I have already done 86k km.
- My average fuel consumption is 11km/L.
This car has better handling and comfort even though the car is very large and has a long wheelbase, because this car is using manual transmission, sometimes it has problems such as hard to downshift and lots of jerk after releasing the clutch pedal. It also needs a high revolution for better torque. For long driving distance this car is good but for city driving is the problem. However, This car has fewer minor problems and no major problems.
Pros and Cons
Pros of my car
1. Nice handling and comfort.
2. Manual transmission.
3. More pick-up for high revolution.
4. Nice exterior and interior design.
5. Simple engine system.
6. Low cost maintenance.
Cons
1. Less fuel efficiency.
2. Less pick-up for city driving.

Summary:
This is the story of why I am interested in Proton cars. When I was kid, Almost all of my family had Proton cars such as Proton Saga Iswara 1.6 MT (Father's car), Proton Wira 1.6 MT (Grandfather's car) and Proton Wira Aeroback MT (Aunty's car). When I was in primary school, I was watching the World Rally Championship (WRC) on the internet and I saw the proton rally cars (Proton Satria Neo S2000). From that I like to have that car and it is Proton, the national car and I am so proud because Malaysian cars have joined any races especially in WRC. But because I am a student, I don't have money to buy my own car and I don't know how to drive.
In 2010, when I was in secondary school, My grandfather traded his Proton Wira 1.6 MT and bought Proton Persona 1.6 MT for RM40k or RM50k. My grandfather was very happy with that car and always brought it with me when my grandfather wanted to drive that car. After 3 years of owning their car, he didn't want to bring a manual transmission car. In 2013, he bought another car, the Perodua Alza SE 1.6 AT and his Proton Persona 1.6 MT were sold to my mother for RM28k and my mother was the 2nd owner of this car. After 8 years she has owned their car. This year, my mother bought the new Nissan Serena 2019. The Proton Persona 1.6 MT has been sold to me for RM9.8k and I am the 3rd owner of this car. I can feel that this car (Proton Persona 1.6 MT) is very special because it has been used by my family. This car increases my confidence in driving and makes me feel like a racer because this car has better handling compared to other cars. How did it happen? I have brought this car around Karak road with some high speed cornering and sometimes on the highway and in KL city. Most importantly, this is the largest and practical for the first car. I have become a passenger and driver for this car.
