Make and Model: 1996 Honda Civic SO4 Converted EK99

Time of Purchase: 1st June 2018

Price of vehicle: RM30k

Reasons why I bought this car

As this car had been converted to EK99, and the condition of the car is great when I bought. The whole car is very ori, the previous owner shifted the parts from EK9 and EK99. I never touch or mod anything after I bought, I just maintain it.

Car Selection Process

• I had a budget of RM60k

• Model(s) that I have considered include: Honda Accord Euro R CL7

Reasons why I chose this car:

• Powerful engine

• Easy to drive

• Outlook doesn’t look outdated, even when you compare with modern cars

User Experience

• I have already done 30,000 km

Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are:

At first will feel a bit of hassle, as the bypass pipes leaking, the engine cover valve hardened, and small things. And I don’t have a flexible working time. But after all been replaced, is like a new car. Whenever the VTEC kick in, you really can’t resist the screaming of VTEC, lol. Is a quite balance car, you can feel the power no matter in low rev or high rev. So this car is really fun to me.

Summary

Is not really a headache to maintain a 20 years old car, compare to a retro car. As long as there are still spare parts in the market, you are fine. And this car, very straightforward, so if it breaks down somewhere, you don’t have to worry about which workshop to go to.

Interesting events that happened to my car

We have a group of friends who drive JDM old cars, like to go here and there to eat and gather around.

Almost once every week after work, I and a friend will drive out of town, really just wanna drive only, lol. We really enjoy the night ride.
