Reasons why I bought this car
I am a long time Vios driver of Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3. In my personal opinion, Toyota Vios is a good but very boring car, especially the interior. Honda City is a more exiting car compare to Toyota Vios.
I am using this car as my daily car to work (Sales). When I approach to Honda 3S center in Kepong, was greeted by a SA and he introduced me to City. The Interior design of City sounded more exciting compare to Vios which felt quite bland.
My working nature needs to travel a lot and I would like to find a car whereby the petrol consumption is better. I Love the trunk capacity of Honda City, this can help when purchasing groceries. Rear Air Vent really makes my parents who sit behind feel more comfortable when traveling.
Car Selection Process
-
I had a budget of 100k
-
Model(s) that I have considered include: Nissan Almera, Proton X50, Proton X70
I chose Honda City based on a few criteria which I think is important for me:
-
I am not so confident in Turbo car at this moment.
-
Maintenance cost of NA and Turbo, which NA will be more economical.
-
Exterior outlook.
-
Large Trunk capacity.
-
Price that suits the specs.
User Experience
-
I have already done 700 km
Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are:
Overall I am satisfied with this Honda City.
-
Responsive Infotainment unit with support to Android Auto really makes my driving experience easy, especially access to Waze and Spotify
-
Land watch is very useful in highway driving
-
LED headlamp is very bright with manual adjustable height
-
Petrol consumption so far is around 13.5km/liter w/o turn on the Eco Mode. Yet to try to turn on for Eco mode as will make the car feel not responsive
-
Speed turn is good with minimum body roll
Pros & Cons
Pros
-
Paddle shifter improves the driving experience to a little more sporty feel and improves the acceleration in highway
-
Petrol consumption low
-
Stylish design (LED headlamp and tail light)
-
Infotainment unit screen is bright and responsive with Android Auto
-
Large Trunk capacity
-
When sit in the car will feel a bit of "Atas" feeling
Cons
-
CVT Rubber band feel, although I feel better than previous version of City.
-
Overall Handling still have room to improve.
-
Maybe can give a full size spare tyre instead of a "Cute" spare tyre.
-
Rear arm rest position a bit low.
-
Was hoping to have a bit more compartment to store some small item. like Vios NCP93.
-
Very Bland rev Meter, even my Myvi Lagi best is better looking than this.

Summary
Honda City is a good family car with large trunk capacity and rear air vents. It also gives driver a relatively good feeling when driving, with the Aids of Android auto really helps me in my everyday driving.
Petrol consumption is also low, the build quality of this Honda City exceed my expectation as I compare with the previous gen City. Although there is also some part which I am not happy with, but overall I would recommend this car to my friends and family.
