I had a budget of: RM 90,000
-
Models that I have considered include: Toyota Vios, Honda City
-
Reasons why I chose this car:
1) Safety is top as AEB, Blindspot are all included.
2) Great looks compared to other models, exterior and interior-wise.
3) Free 5 years maintenance, parts included and 5 years warranty with unlimited mileage
4) Fuel efficient with the torquey engine due to Turbo.
5) Latest technology compared to other brands.

I have already done 3000 km
Most underrated B-Seg sedan in the market. Firstly, I was comparing between Vios, City and Almera. These 3 are fighting for my money. And I took a test drive between City, Vios and Almera and booked the Almera immediately after that because it was the only one that really surprised me in a good way. Moreover, both the Honda and Toyota are what I expect from Japanese sedan, the Toyota interior was not what I liked while the Honda is just boring to me since it's everywhere.
The Almera was the one that really changed my opinion about Turbo engines and CVT gearbox. The engine has more than enough power for city and highway driving, I can easily get up to 140KM/H although the crosswinds will make the car a bit unstable because its weight is quite light. In addition, no issue with 3 cylinder engine, you can hardly detect the vibration through the cabin. Come on, don't compare to the 2000s Perodua Viva engine la, this is 2020 already. On the other hands, the interior is a bit smaller than City but because I drive alone mostly, this is no issue nor the lack of rear aircon vent. Almera's interior looks amazing, especially with that full-color LCD meter. It's not quite as comfortable as the Vios, but everything else is just better in terms of handling, looks, safety, driving feel, fuel economy.
Yes, the fuel economy for this Almera is just amazing. I easily get up to 22KM/L with a mix of 60% City/ 40% highway driving. For something I am aiming to use for 7 years, the Almera comes with equipment that is futureproofed for that timeframe. Also, It's got Turbo, 3 cylinder engine, AEB, Blindspot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, LED headlamps, Full-color LCD screen, Touchscreen with Apple Carplay, etc.
If you are also looking for B-Seg cars, I highly recommend taking a look at this Almera. Don't give in to brand loyalists or commentors online, it's your own money and time. Buy what you like!

Summary
Upgrading from 2005 Myvi to this is an eye-opener.Technology is really progressing so fast. People complain 3 cylinder & turbo is uncomfortable but it's 2021 already, almost all cars are downsizing and engineering is so advanced now. In addition, changing to this car means I can safely use this car for at least 5-7 years without needing to upgrade as it already has the latest technology. Using for that long also negates any depreciation concern etc.Warranty and Free service for 5 years also help save cost in the long term. And the fuel consumption....that is the best part. Not lacking in power but can still have a higher fuel economy than Myvi or Axia!
Interesting event(s) that happened to your car
This car is quite an attention grabbing. I cannot recall how many times I caught people looking at my car when I stop at traffic lights or in shopping malls.
