Basic information
2016 Perodua Bezza 1.3 AV
Reasons why I bought this car
- 508L of boot space.
- Good fuel efficiency.
- Dual VVTI DOHC engine that shares the same platform with Toyota and Daihatsu.
- Higher resale value.
- Has the most features in the A-segment range.
- High reliability.
Car selection process
- I had a budget of RM50,000.
- Models that I have considered include: 2016 Proton Persona & Perodua Myvi
This is my first car, so I would need the boot space especially when fetching my relatives to and from airport. A large amount of boot space would fit the luggage perfectly. Besides, Bezza comes with Dual VVTI DOHC engine which results in good fuel efficiency. However, this plus point doesn't come cheap as the need to use higher-grade fully synthetic engine oil to maintain this engine. Next, Bezza has the most features at that time, ABS, EBD, TRC, VSC, BA, HSA, Auto-off Headlamps, Keyless Start, Smart Entry and reverse camera. Although this is the first sedan car design and produce by Perodua, the reliability of Perodua is best among the national brands. I have a friend who drove a Proton Saga FLX, his car couldn't start and had to send back to factory to reset the ECU. Last but not least, the resale value of Perodua is higher. This will give me a higher leverage when I trade-in and change to a new car.
User experience
- I have already done 75,000 km.
After driving for almost 4 years, I have never faced any breakdowns (except tyre punctured). The maintenance cost is around RM200 for every 5000Km driven, the cost is high is because I used the Perodua Genuine 0-20W fully synthetic oil. Besides during the 50000Km schedule maintenance, I have changed are rear absorbers which cost around RM250 for both including labour charges. Unfortunately, the Service Centre doesn't allow me to claim warranty for this as they claimed that this is due to wear and tear by driving condition. Next, the driving experience in the Bezza is very bad, a lot of body roll and the ride is bumpy. The experience is worst when you bring it on highway, you will never feel safe when you are driving above 80Km/h. Although most of the time this car only occupied by me and my girlfriend, when I need to fetch more passengers, the rear passengers will always complain about the seats comfortableness. Last but not least, the price is too hefty for A-segment sedan.
