Owner Review: Comfortable and super reliabile cruiser, My 2015 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G

Basic information of my car:

2015 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G, RM123k

Reasons why I bought this car

I want a reliable and comfortable cruiser. Imagine from KB to Pahang (wife), then travel west to Perak (Parents), going up north to Kedah (in law) and return back to KB, 8 times per year. Added with my very packed work schedule, i will travel directly after working for at least 24 hours. (I advice not to follow this attitude,so dangerous) No one will dare to have car breakdown in Grik or Karak in one journey right?

Car Selection Process

I had a budget of: RM130000

Models that I’ve considered included : Nissan Sylphy, Honda Civic FB, Volkswagen Jetta

My Father. He taught me, "Toyota la, tak sakit kepala" (I expect many people will condemn me for this reason). but it is very true. I did not choose Nissan Sylphy because i did not like its interior, it is very bland especially its steering wheel, my god. As for Honda Civic FB, at that time i believed, the next gen Civic will be very popular and beautiful. As expected, a year later, came Civic FC. For Jetta, i have my stand, Volkwagen will give me headache.(my opinion, jangan kecam) Although i really love the driving experience during test drive, The ultimate DSG.

User experience

• I have already done 150000km.
• My average fuel consumption is 12km/L

A reliable, dependable, comfortable cruiser. I am very grateful to have this car as my long distance/daily driving car. (Part of my tribute to the car) Toyota Corolla is a well known for its "tank" and indestructible capability since a very long time. Yes, my car held the title very well.

Since owning the car, no major issue arised at all. i drove the car quite aggressive and still it drives very well.

High speed cruising even in bended Karak and Gerik, no problem at all. When i said no problem at all, it is of course not cruising at 110km/h or even 160km/h. You know what i mean. That high speed in Karak and Gerik, i am very confident with the driving capability of Altis.

Pros of my car:

• Reliable (Tank, no major problem)
• Comfortable (The seating position with leather seat is perfect for me)
• Very good sound system (i appreciate sound/music very much, i already compared to some of high end brand in some luxury cars, even my factory built speakers can on par with them, i dont know maybe my audio setting have something to do with it)
• CVT is smooth (although, typical quite noisy initial revving sound)
• Dashboard design (compared to previous gen Altis, it is very much better)
• Affordable maintainance (It is Toyota)
• Rear seat spacious and feel executive like ( Design of the rear centre cupholder is beautiful,chrome. even current gen Altis looks bland, black plastic)

Cons of my car:

• CVT sound in initial acceleration (Have to pandai main the gas pedal to get less noisy sound, there are tricks to do it)
• slow acceleration (plus with CVT, smooth but slow)
• Manual parking break (can change to electronic? feel so outdated)
• No rear air vent (come on Toyota, though current gen already have one.)
• My Fuel Consumption (maybe my own driving habit)

Summary :

It is not a perfect car but i believe in my Toyota Corolla Altis, he will serve me well until 400k km or more? I strongly suggest this car for those who do not want headache. Even the current generation is much more improved, TNGA, safety suite etc. Though the price is increased, but it is worth the pay. Dont take the risk of owning a known problematic or high maintainance car if you are not prepared to do so, especially for fresh graduates. Think and plan thorougly, "Anda rasa saya ada masa untuk sakit kepala?"

Lastly：

Front foglamp, left side malfunctioned. Already planned to order and change. 2 weeks later, functioning. Wah, Corolla Altis can even regenerate?
