Owner Review: Cannot find any shortcoming of this car for the past 6.5 years - 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8E (11th GEN)

Basic information about my car

2014 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8E (11th GEN) RM112,000.00

Reasons why I bought this car

Comfortable, cheaper to maintain, reliable, bulletproof engine, low fuel consumption, spacious, handsome, top-notch built quality (all in one package).

Car Selection Process

• I had a budget of RM100,000.00

• Model(s) that I have considered include: Honda Civic 1.8 (9th GEN), Kia Cerato 1.6

Reasons why I chose this car:

Because it was a popular C segment in Malaysia. 

The reason I did not choose Civic because:

1. No front sensors

2. Low seating position

3. No LED rear and brake light

4. Beige interior

5. No touch screen player

6. Ugly rear design

7. Bad built quality

8. Messy engine bay

9. CKD unlike Altis was CBU

The reason I did not choose Cerato because it is not a fun driving car and totally opposite from the appearance.

I heard the fuel consumption was very high and many complaints about its aftersale services.

User Experience

• I have already done 112,.400 km

Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are:

The drive was totally comfortable and fun, especially for long distances. Even the fuel consumption equivalent to a B segment. I never regretted being an Altis owner as it never gave me any problem since I bought this car as brand new back in 2014.

It is among the best family car in the C segment.

Cons

Seriously, I cannot find anything and for the past 6.5 years, I did not face any problem with this car.

Just as usual servicing, changed tyres and batteries.

Summary

Anyone who is a family man would like to get a comfortable, reliable, spacious and low fuel consumption car, Corolla Altis is the only car that covers all these aspects. In my opinion, advanced technology, bells, and whistles are only secondary for a vehicle, as we don't use it in our daily drive hence it is not a useful function for everyone.
