Basic information
2018 KF Mazda CX-5 2.0GLS/High
Time of purchase: 15th March 2018
Price: Around RM151,000
Reason why I bought this car
To replace my A32 Nissan Cefiro 2.0 V6
Car selection process
-
I have a budget of RM 150,000.
-
Model(s) that I have considered include:
Honda CR-V 1.5TC, Subaru Forester 2.0i-P, Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0, Honda HR-V 1.8E, Kia Sportage GT line
With 150k budget in 2018, Mazda CX-5 is the best choice. It comes with basic ADAS (AEB, BSM, RCTA & etc), soft-touch material all around in the cabin & 6AT transmission (instead CVT). I can fetch IKEA furniture, bicycle(s) & go through some flash flood easily as well.
User experience
- I have already done 61,000 km.
CX-5 can give me the driving excitement that I want especially driving on long journey. I can't find those driving excitement with others SUV. High speed cornering is good. Also, after changing the fuel pump motor which is under recall campaign, my CX-5 is a lot smoother and more power when acceleration.
The seats are very stiff compared to Honda CR-V & Nissan X-trail. After few hours of journey, can get a little back pain.
Some COMMON defects of KF CX-5 like lower arm bush, rear piano black garnish, side mirror actuator (folding kit), engine mounting no.3 & aircon blower.
Total 10 defects/parts had changed. 9 things were under warranty claim and 1 thing was paid by myself.
1. Rear LHS Piano Black Garnish (July 2018) (RM199.99 paid by myself - still asking for refund)
2. LHS side mirror folding kit (Sep 2018, replaced on May 2019) (RM450 under warranty claim)
3. RHS side mirror folding kit (May 2019) (RM450 under warranty claim)
4. Rear RHS Piano Black Garnish (July 2019) (RM199.99 under warranty claim)
5. Both (2) front lower arm bush (Sep 2019 got this prob but SC rectified on Dec 2019) (RM400-RM500 under warranty claim)
6. The third (no.3) engine mounting (Sep 2019 got this prob but SC failed to rectify until 6 March 2020) (RM600-RM700 under warranty claim)
7. RHS side mirror folding kit (Sep 2020) (RM450 under warranty claim)
8. LHS side mirror folding kit (Nov 2020) (RM450 under warranty claim)
9. Aircon Blower (Dec 2020) (RM370 under warranty claim) *RHS & LHS side mirror actuator claimed & replaced twice.
*RHS & LHS side mirror actuator claimed & replaced twice.
Car body paint is thinner than my GM6 FL Honda City. After-sales services need to be improved.
