Owner Review: A rare and sleek family treasure - My Mazda Autozam AZ-3 in Malaysia

Basic information about my car:

This car is Mazda Autozam AZ-3. This car actually looks the same the Mazda MX3. Launched in 1991, this car was made in 1993 and registered in 1997. This Autozam AZ-3 shared the basic design with the Eunos Presso but was given a light-footed, sporty flavor for the active young generation. Equipped with front and rear spoilers and deflectors on both sides, the AZ-3 was painted in bright colors with a black-based interior to create a sharp image.

Powered by a 1.5-liter straight-four engine, Dual Overhead Cam, the car was tuned for a quick rev up to high rpm for a refreshing driving experience. The name AZ was an abbreviation of Autozam. The top speed of this car is about 180km/h.

How did you find the car? 

This car actually has been around since before I was born. This car was originally purchased as a new and not a second-hand car. My dad used to use this car regularly but now it is inherited by me because we have a new car this 2021 year. I use this car to go to class, go out with friends and so on. This is actually the first car I drove after I g0t my driving license and this car has become part of my life.

The process of maintenance, modification, or repair:

Actually, my family can't afford to repair this car because this car's spare parts car are very hard to find and the price is quite expensive. We only do light services such as changing engine oil and many more. That's why this car is not in a good condition, the body also has some dents and the paint is also bad.

But this is the only car that we have at that time, so we always travel in this car. Sometimes, when we travel far from home, we have to manage bad things that happened with this car such as gearbox problems, engine, and technical problems, and so on. We were also stranded on the side of the highway.

We have to ride a tow truck along with this car. We spend thousands and more to make sure this car can run smoothly again as before on the road. So that's why I just use this car for a short distance only not for far distances.

The driving experience of my car:

The driving experience is also not good as new, but I enjoyed driving this car and heard the sound come from this car exhaust. All parts of this car are so old, the tyres also have not changed for a long time, have some oil leaking and have to top up the engine oil regularly, and so on.

The engine is also not smooth as new, and sometimes we have to use another car's spare parts like Proton because the repair shop doesn't have this car's spare parts. So this car has to use whatever components and spare parts from other brand cars like Proton. But I really love to drive this car for daily use. Always be grateful for what you have.

What things should be noticed in daily use?

Things that should be noticed wear and tear parts. Always do some checking on air-conditioning, check on engine, oils, and tyre pressure to prevent a bad accident from happening. Always do some walk-around of your car and check if all the lights are functioning or not.

Summary of my car:

In conclusion, even this car is in bad condition, but still can be driven and it's also a rare car to find. If I had a lot of money, I would repair this car completely like new and modify it to look more beautiful. I might as well do various improvements to this car engine, electronic components, all body parts, engine parts, and also remake the interior.

This car has done a lot for us as a family. This car also has brought my siblings and friends. This car my dad used to sent me to primary school until high school. This car also my dad use to send my sisters to the university and so on.

This car has history and sweet memories for my family and community, even the police and villagers know this car because it's a rare car. I grew up with this car until now and sometimes I spend some money I have on this car. Many people have asked to sell this car but I don't want to sell it. This car is so valuable like treasure to me and I will take care of it as far as I can.
