They are both great premium brands (and Audi too!). If buying new, I'd get the BMW for the better warranty and service package, and the driving experience. If I want posh, the Merc will turn heads more (even the 20-year-old versions) than the Bimmer. I may end up tossing a coin between the 2 :)

Depends....merc comfy, bmw more for the sportier, direct feel when driving. both are different things that both do differently.
