Can Proton beat Korean cars like hyundai one day? Recently I read an article titled “Once poorer than Malaysia, how Korea’s car industry progressed further than ours?” The author explained how Korea achieved what we couldn’t from historical, economic and political aspects. Time has changed, of course. Now our national brands like proton, perodua are making progress, though still making little influence internationally. I am wondering what is the main gap between malaysian and korean car industries now. Will proton beat Korean cars like hyundai one day, even though taking the low-end line?

Maybe, but quite a long way to go. Proton should accept domestic critics and meet domestic requirements first...

taking the low-end line...maybe, but many values proton worships have to be changed, like export awareness, quality evaluation, peculiarity...

Rebadging is the way to open the market, but shouldn't last for too long…
