Basic information about my car:
Model year 2012
Brand Nissan
Model Teana 2.0
Version Comfort
Price Rm140,000
Reasons why I bought this car(purpose)I owned a Proton Perdana which was already 12 years. The car started to give me problems in terms of overheating, but the biggest problems was the gear box. It failed several time where the car could not move and was also leaking transmission oil.
Back then, my wife told me to get another car to replaced the current Perdana as I have to go to work in Shah Alam on a daily basis.
Car selection process
I had a budget of RM120,000 being the loan that I can get to finance the purchase of the car and to have a monthly instalments that I can afford.
Models that I have considered include Hyundai Sonata 2.0. and Toyota Camry 2.0. However after going to the showrooms and testing all the cars several times, and because it was the lowest price with higher trade in value, I chose the Nissan Teana Comfort model. It was the in between both the Sonata and Camry in terms of space, performance, petrol consumption and looks.
User Experience
I have already done near 90,000km. My average fuel consumption is 16km per liter or 6.25km/l. I achieved this by driving to work at 60 - 65 km per hour.
Since the purchase, my thought about the car are I am a person that likes to drive a clean and shinning car. The car paint is as immaculate as when it was purchased. I will normally washed, and detail the car every weekend, even now. I usually say my car 'is newer than new'. The maintenace cost is average.
Pros and Cons
Pros of my car
- It has a modern look over the after model (My personal view).
- No problems with the engine. Of course I regularly take my car for servicing at Tan Chong Service at intervals.
- It is still servicing me without any complaints. Of course the lockdown has limited the driving resulting in the low mileage recorded.
- It is spacious and was able to fetch a family of 5 comfortably back then.
- Low maintenance cost. Driving slow helps a lot in keeping the cost low in terms of petrol, tyre wear and even engine wear.
Cons
- The dashboard shows cracks which was a sore eye to the interior of the car. However I covered the whole dashboard with vinyl cover which helps to cover the cracks.
- I had to changed the radio display as it burned out on the 6th year.
- The audio system does not have extra bass and sounds very normal. I have yet to upgrade the audio system.

Summary:
I bought my car in 2012 and the car has been a work horse fetching me to work, carrying my family back then. And in return, I have taken care of it by bathing, detailing the car weekly and giving the care of servicing it on a regular interval. As I have no intention of replacing this car, I have kept the paint in immaculate condition. I am so proud of driving and owning this comfortable car.
Lastly, whenever I parked my car at the carpark, there will be people looking and staring at my car. They will asked me how old is the car and when I tell them to look at the number plate, they will give me a look of disbelieve.
