What do you guys think about this?
He’s a 27 year old guy driving a stock-standard 21-year old Proton Saga Iswara. His argument is that the car is much cheaper than buying a brand new car and paying installments.
According to Ken, it takes only about rm 300 every month to get the car running, roughly equivalent to RM 3,600 to run the car for a whole year. Petrol, insurance, tolls inclusive. It makes sense financially for sure but....
Do you guys think its really worth it? Here’s my hot take. I think he’s wrong. He’s only looking at the financial aspect and routine maintenance ya, but still - its not a safe car, and lacking safety features means he’s invariably putting other people in danger too. It’s not like these are particularly strong cars or very modern.
I think its time for him to put the Saga aside and just get a brand new Saga because sometimes, ‘savings’ is more than just ringgit and sens.
