Basic information about my car:
2010 Nissan Xtrail T31 2.0-litre CVT FWD, RM30K.
Reasons why I bought this car(purpose):
The reason I bought this car is due to its spacious wagon space ( it can fit the whole toilet door) , still the largest to date. The bulky boxy design looked so muscular compared to other suvs at that time. Jatco-sourced X-Tronic CVT with six virtual ratios which you can select auto or manual which I guess only T31 can offer.
Car Selection Process
- I had a budget of 40k
- Models that I have considered include HONDA CRV, XTRAIL T30,RAV4
the reason of I chose this car;
- Spacious space
- 2.0L 2WD . (saving on road tax) (no need to maintenance for 4wd component)
- The market price is cheap compared to other brand-used units.
- Many parts can be outsourced (i,e original, oem and also original used parts from japan.
- 2.0-litre MR20DE engine is widely use here for nissan car
- Moderate off-road usage since the design is actually off-road for other variants.
User Experience
- I have already done 155,060 km.
- My average fuel consumption is 10-11.2km/l
Since the purchase I have done 150,000km, I use it for daily rides to work around 100km daily. nothing much to say on engine performance, a bit sluggish at start point since it is only 2.0L, the gearbox runs smoothly for a 10 years old car.
Pros and Cons
Pros of my car
1) cheap maintenance
2) many part can be out source

4) Jatco-sourced X-Tronic CVT with six virtual ratios which you can select auto or manual.
5)Electric Steering Wheels, no more power steering leaks.
6)Drive belts do not exist and are equipped with timing chains, another less serviceable item.
7)Good ground clearance.
8)Rear seats fold fully flat
Cons
1) no VSA
2) less air bag
Total Score: 4
Performance: 3
Quality & Features: 4
Space: 5
Ride comfort: 4
Fuel Economy: 3
Price & cost: 4
Summary:
After much deliberation between a multitude of similar SUV's, ultimately chose the Nissan X-Trail t31 based on its overall reliability record, fuel consumption and value for money. So far, it has delivered on all accounts. I have not had any problems with the car to date, and I don't expect any as well. These cars have quite simple, yet reliable drive components that ensure you won't be going back to the workshop that often. Fuel economy wise, my 2.0L CVT uses 9.5L/100KM (highway) and 11.0L/100KM (city), which is quite impressive in my opinion, considering the size and the overall weight of the car, and the mixed city/highway driving I do. In terms of value for money, the car is quite cost-efficient with maintaining and servicing due to many reliable parts that can be sourced locally.
Interesting Events:
I converted my 2010 pre face lift model to a facelift model of "xtremer" variant (bought in a halfcut shop imported from japan) which is considered really rare here. When I stop for gas, a fews will ask me what model it is since it looks really boxy and sharp , which I'm really proud of.
