2020 Proton Iriz MT

Reason why I bought this car

Mainly used for daily commuting to work, and also travelling with family and friends.

Car selection process

• I had a budget of: RM 40k

• Models that I have considered include: Proton Saga, Proton Persona

The reason why I choose this car

• It was within my budget.
• As a lowest specification car (MT), the safety feature is enough.
• I planned to buy a Manual Transmission Car.

User experience

• I have already done 13282km. 
• My average fuel consumption is 7.5L/km.

The Proton 2019 Facelift is overall a good car with good ride & handling and soundproof. 

Pros & Cons

Pros

• Small turning radius.
• Affordable price with plenty of safety features.
• Good ride & handling.
• Uses shark-in antenna which is more elegant.

Cons

• There are only two speakers at both front doors.
• Do not have DRL.

Summary

When I was in Secondary School, I started to play Initial D and Wangan Midnight in the arcade. I was attracted by the JDM cars and also manual transmission cars. Thus I told myself that I must buy a manual transmission car after I grow up.

After that, I bought my first new car in my life in 2020 and I selected Proton Iriz MT, to fulfill my dream. 

I am happy and lucky that I still can buy a new car with a manual transmission to fulfill my dream and I will take good care of my new car. 

Some interesting events

I ordered my Proton Iriz MT at the end of February 2020. In the first week of March 2020, I had paid my deposit and signed the hire purchase agreement. At the same time, I was informed that my car had already arrived at the showroom.

I was impressed because as I knew, manual transmission (MT) cars have to wait for a longer time because of stock availability. I was looking forward to taking my new car at that moment.

Unfortunately, on 16th March, PM announced the MCO 1.0 and I have to wait for a longer time to get my new car. Finally, I got my new car in mid of May 2020, which was CMCO first implemented.

From the story, I concluded that others wait a long time for MT cars due to stock availability but for me it is due to MCO XD.
